For readers

Turn any book into your vocabulary source

Select a word right inside the page you're reading — a definition matched to this exact sentence appears instantly, with pronunciation, real examples, and a picture when one helps. It's saved to that book's own word list automatically, no separate step.

How it works

A dictionary that knows which sense you meant

Most e-reader dictionaries give you a flat list of every possible meaning and leave you to guess. Dictarium's desktop reader matches the definition to the sentence you're actually reading, adjusts for your own level, and — if the page is a scan with no selectable text at all — recognizes it first, so you can look up words on that page too.

  • ✓Works offline once you've looked a word up — no connection needed to see it again
  • ✓Scanned PDFs get recognized automatically, so even a photocopy becomes searchable
  • ✓EPUB, PDF, MOBI, FB2, CBZ, and plain text — one reader for all of them
  • ✓Pick which accent your pronunciation plays in, per word

Mark it, and it plans the next review itself

After each card, just say whether you knew it. Dictarium uses that to steer review time toward the words you’re actually shaky on, not the ones you’ve already got. Want more nuance? A 4-point scale — Again, Hard, Good, Easy — is one toggle away in settings.

Pronunciation

Hear it the way it’s actually said

A word doesn’t sound the same everywhere — Dictarium gives you real voices to choose from instead of one flat default: American or British English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and more. Pick the one you want once, and every card plays it back that way from then on.

Not a bolt-on bilingual dictionary

A built-in e-reader dictionary answers one lookup and forgets it. Dictarium keeps a running word list per book, with the exact sentence each word came from, so revisiting a book later shows you exactly what you already worked through — and every word feeds the same dictionary as everything else you look up, on any device.
